Workshop - How to Build a Successful E-commerce Business

The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation will be hosting a Workshop for designers/entrepreneurs and craft persons on “How to Build a Successful E-commerce Business”. Relevant students/tutors from the Barbados Vocational Training Board, Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute, and the Barbados Community College are also invited to participate.
The Workshop will take place on Saturday, October 5 & 19, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bagnall’s Point Gallery, Pelican, St. Michael. Refreshments will be served.
Workshop Facilitator is Ms. Monif Clarke, CEO and President of Monif C. Plus Sizes.
Topics to be covered are:
- How to build an ecommerce store with minimal money. This information can be used whether building a business website or selling on a 3rd party platform.
- Which web platforms are best suited for entrepreneurs with little to no programming experience.
- The best way to market on an ecommerce store and create sales.
- How to manage an ecommerce store as a solo entrepreneur.
- How to manage shipping and customer service.
Being successful in the fashion industry means diversifying your sales streams. According to the Fashion and Apparel Industry Report, worldwide ecommerce sales topped US$418 billion in 2018, and will almost double in 2022 to US$712 billion dollars. The internet provides a unique opportunity for Barbadian brands to be able to reach potential consumers that would otherwise be unaware of their brand. Platforms like Amazon, Etsy, and Ebay give brands an opportunity to tap into marketing and sales channels that already have customers, and close the gap for new brands where there are limited resources to market the products/services.
This course will teach participants how to create a successful ecommerce site and at the end of the Workshop each participant should be able to create an individual Etsy store to sell products, and will be equipped with the blueprint on how to make the first sale and build an export business.

Registration will take place at 9:30 a.m. on October 05, 2019.
Participants are asked to bring their own laptop/tablet.
